the british photographer, norman parkinson, revolutionized fashion photography in the 40's by taking the model out of the rigid studio. working for bazaar and vogue, parkinson would travel to far-flung exotic destinations india, australia, jamaica and the then soviet union. parkinson died in singapore in 1990 while photographing for the magazine town & country
